Dr. York Installed as Dean of the School of Theology

During chapel on Tuesday, August 30 Dr. Hershael York was installed as the 11th Dean of the School of Theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Dr. Albert Mohler, President of Southern Seminary, referenced the installation of Dr. York as “a historic day.” Following his installation, which was attended by a group of members from Buck Run, Dr. York preached the morning sermon which can be watched here.

As dean, Dr. York will lead the faculty of the school in carrying out the school’s vision of equipping men and women for ministry in the church and on the mission field. In addition to continuing to teach preaching and pastoral ministry, Dr. York is now responsible for overseeing much of the administration of the School of theology and encouraging and equipping the faculty in their teaching and ministering to their students. This opportunity gives Dr. York the ability to use his gifts and experience of preaching, pastoring, and leading to raise up the next generation of pastor-scholars.

Dr. York’s role at Buck Run remains unchanged. While what he does at the seminary each week will be different in the days ahead, he will continue to lead, preach, and shepherd Buck Run in the same ways he has for nearly 15 years.
