Pastor Letter: August 16, 2018

Buck Run Family:

It is a tremendous privilege for my wife Catherine and I to join in with you in the endeavor to glorify God by proclaiming Jesus Christ in order to make disciples who serve their community and spread the gospel to the nations. I consider it a great honor to take up the mantle to Pastor students and families and look forward to pursuing those ends together.

Thank you for all the kindness, hospitality and generosity that you have shown to Catherine and I as we have transitioned from living in Cleveland, Ohio to Frankfort, Kentucky. The transition has been challenging in a number of ways but you all have demonstrated such willingness to serve us making the move all the easier by your love and care. We are truly thrilled to be a part of all that God is doing in and through Buck Run and we are eager to contribute our part to “see the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Eph. 4:16).

To provide you with a little background information on Catherine and me, both of us grew up & met in northern Kentucky. We were married on July 15th, 2016 and have experienced a lot in our first two years of marriage. Year one consisted of Catherine teaching in the public school system as a second-grade teacher while I finished a Master of Divinity at Southern Seminary and year two consisted of me working as a full-time Pastoral Intern at Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio while Catherine completed a Master of Education online at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and worked in a Classical Christian school. Needless to say, we are both glad to be putting down some roots at Buck Run and anticipate building lasting relationships here for years to come!

As the Student Pastor, I will be leading our efforts to minister with and to students between the ages of 11 to 18. I will work with parents to pray, encourage and equip in any way that I can in the task they have been given to bring their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. I will work with students to engage unchurched students in our community with the gospel in order that the mission of Buck Run might be furthered and so that God would be glorified.

Catherine and I are so excited to be with you all and anticipate getting to know each of you better in the coming days. Please pray for us in life and in ministry that God would provide the grace needed to change us into the people He desires for us to be and that we would be channels of His grace as we minister here at Buck Run.

Grace and Peace,

Matt Ross
