Pastor Letter: February 20, 2019

Dear Church Family,

I am so grateful for the many stories I hear from guests and members about the hospitality of our church. Buck Run is truly one of the most welcoming places I have ever been, and I hear the same thing from many others time and time again. When people walk into our main doors, we hope to show them the love of the gospel as they hear the truth of the gospel being proclaimed. We have the greatest news in the world––that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners––and this truth transforms us and the way we treat others.

Our church family does so well in serving our community inside and outside of our church, and we will have an opportunity to intentionally serve them in the greatest way possible: sharing the gospel with them. Through Reach Frankfort, a new church-wide initiative, our church family will go into the city of Frankfort with the sole purpose of sharing the gospel in our city. The goal is to take the gospel house-to-house until we have been to every home and apartment in the vicinity of our church.

Our mission statement asserts that we, as Buck Run Baptist Church, exist to glorify God by proclaiming Jesus Christ in order to make disciples who serve their community and spread the gospel to the nations. We especially want to equip, encourage, and challenge our people to go out into the community to proclaim the gospel together. The city of Frankfort has a population of over 25,000 people, and we have been commissioned to proclaim Jesus Christ to each of these people.

I hope you are here this Sunday for our Spotlight on Reach Frankfort that will meet at 9:15 AM in the Sanctuary. Many people feel intimidated and scared when they think about sharing the gospel door-to-door, but the goal of this class is to provide a biblical foundation and practical steps for sharing the gospel.

The Psalmist declares in Psalm 105:1, “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!” Our desire as a church is to make God’s renown known among the people of Frankfort, Kentucky, and to the ends of the earth. I hope to see you this Sunday as we strategically think about offering the good news of Christ to families at their front doors.
