Missions Monday: “The Lord Has Me Here”

When Justin Ray came to Buck Run in the fall of 2017 as a Pastoral Intern, he knew he was interested in church planting, but he needed help discerning whether or not God was calling him to plant a church. After a period of prayer and godly counsel, he decided he needed to experience church planting firsthand, so he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to join Overland Church.

The relocation process hasn’t been easy, but Justin is confident that God has directed him to Overland Church. He now serves as Church Planting Apprentice and Student Pastor, but his first priority is to live as a missionary. Justin has learned that ministry “is not necessarily linked to structures and events, or even roles and responsibilities.” Instead, “ministry is about loving people and telling others of the love of God.” Justin’s experience is shaping his preparation for ministry and his view of the local church’s responsibility in making disciples.

Most importantly, Justin has learned that ministry success at Overland Church is impossible apart from God, and he’s excited to see all the ways that God is working through Overland as they proclaim the gospel, make disciples, serve others, and multiply.
