Serve Frankfort Updates
Dear Church Family,
You bring much joy to our pastoral staff through the numerous ways in which you love Christ, one another, and the world in which you live. I can think of so many examples of how you have, and continue to, care for those with various needs within our congregation through your prayers, financial support, and even your presence (which most likely takes place virtually right now). Not only do you care for those within the body of Christ, but you partner together to shine the light of the gospel in our city, state, and around the world. As followers of Christ, we are lights in the world around us, living in such a way that allows others to see our life and give glory to God (Matthew 5:14-16). I hope and pray that people see your life and ask what is it that makes you different, providing opportunities for you to share the good news of Christ.
As a church, you never cease to amaze with your response to serve others. I can think back to our Serve Frankfort workday in October of 2019, where over 200 of you participated in 16 projects across Frankfort. And now, even during a worldwide pandemic, you are finding ways to serve others and build relationships through snack baskets for delivery drivers, prayer and service cards for your neighbors, supporting local food shelters, and many other opportunities that you participate in. Our most recent project consisted of purchasing various books to be sent to Northpoint Training Center in central Kentucky, and you went above and beyond! Our contact at Northpoint Training Center has been absolutely amazed by your generosity, so thank you. We were able to fill their library with over 100 resources including Bibles and other Christian books. I would encourage you to continue praying for believers who work at Northpoint Training Center and the prisoners who will be reading these various books. May God work mightily, through His Word and by His Spirit, to draw people to repentance of sin and faith in Jesus.
I would ask you to please consider partnering with us for our next Serve Frankfort project. This is going to be a blood drive on Thursday, October 15 from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM at the American Red Cross Diagnostic Drive location (106 Diagnostic Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601). The American Red Cross is slated to collect only a third of what they collected last year, making each donation important as a lot of the donated blood is used for hospital trauma centers. The American Red Cross will be screening each blood donation to check for COVID-19 antibodies, so this would also be a great way to know if you have the antibodies to fight against COVID-19. Please visit buckrun.org/servefrankfort to register to give, and feel free to email Pastor Matt Morvay if you have any difficulties or questions. If you have questions about your eligibility as a donor, you can call the Red Cross at 1 (866) 236-3276. I hope to see you downtown in a couple of weeks!
