New Testament Overview: Philippians-2 Timothy [Story Track] | Ben Pinkston | Room 101
This New Testament overview class continues our study of the Pauline Epistles by surveying Philippians through his 2 letters to Timothy. As Paul wrote to a variety of individuals and contexts, he dealt with many different topics like encouragement in the faith, Christ’s Lordship over all, Jesus’ bodily return, church leadership, and perseverance in the face of suffering. We will survey each of these letters and also consider their individual contributions to our system of theology. These surveys will equip us to recognize major themes and for further personal study of each book.
The Christian Story [Women’s Class] | Hannah Parrish | Room 103
All of Scripture weaves together to tell one incredible story—the story of God’s love and His plan for the world. In The Christian Story, we’ll explore how every part of the Bible connects through six key movements: Creation, Fall, Longing, Redemption, Church Age, and Restoration. Together, we’ll discover how God’s story unfolds from the very beginning to His promise to make all things new.
What God is Like [Doctrine Track] | Todd Hutcherson | Room 102
Our study of the Doctrine of God will focus on God’s attributes and his providential rule over all things. The Bible teaches about two general categories of God’s attributes: those that are totally unique to him and those that we can, in some sense, emulate. The study of God’s attributes in this way will invite us to worship and seek obedience with greater clarity. We will see in the Bible a God who is completely worthy of all praise and is without rival in his rule and authority over his creation.
Talking With God | JP McCammon & Will Morris | Room 100
The Bible describes prayer as a core, essential part of Christian life. So why do so many of us struggle to cultivate healthy prayer in our own lives? In this class we will talk about some ways the Bible teaches us about prayer and work through some practical steps to deepen our prayer lives.
By the Water: Hebrews 8-13 | Wesley Noss | Sanctuary
Gather “by the water” (the section of sanctuary seats nearest the baptistry) to participate in a passage by passage study of Hebrews 8-13. The second half of this New Testament book explains how Jesus is the true and better high priest and sacrifice. It is only through him that believers are reconciled to God and brought into the new covenant. Looking to Jesus, and to the faithful examples of the saints of old, believers can persevere in the loving community of the church. Bring your Bible and come ready to hear and apply God’s Word in the book of Hebrews.
