Midweek
It’s important for Christians to have regular community together to help fight off the many temptations that our culture is throwing at us throughout the week. To this end, Midweek at Buck Run provides a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and relationships. Classes are offered for kids, students, and adults throughout the year at 6:30 pm. Adults can choose from the four-week classes listed below.
Upcoming Classes: Beginning April 15
Zeal Without Burnout | Dr. Chris Parrish | Room 102
Based on Christopher Ash’s book, Zeal Without Burnout, this class taught by Chris Parrish explores how we might present our lives to the Lord as a sustainable sacrifice. Lots of people who are involved in service in the church (whether paid or unpaid) find themselves having to step back from it. They have not lost their love for Christ, or their desire to serve him. But for one reason or another, they are exhausted and simply cannot carry on. How can we serve the Lord with zeal yet without burning out?
The Beatitudes | Ben Pinkston | Sanctuary
Jesus begins his Sermon on the Mount with a set of power-packed statements about life in the Kingdom of God. According to the standards of the world they are counter-intuitive and upside down. These blessings show us that Jesus offers a different way of living in this world. One that mirrors his own surprising ministry: strength through humility and life through death. Join Ben in an exploration of the Beatitudes as we seek to walk in the way of Jesus and live as citizens of his kingdom.
Reading Group: Women of the Word (Women’s Class) | Katelyn Pinkston & Abi Morris | Room 100
We all know it’s important to study God’s word, but sometimes it is hard to know where to start. In this class, we will learn how to study the Bible with both our hearts and our minds by reading and discussing Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin. She outlines five aspects of studying the Bible: purpose, perspective, patience, process, and prayer. Together, we will strive to learn how we can keep our focus and sustain our passion while reading the Bible. Come join us! (Free copies of the book will be available on Week 1)
Mom to Mom | Kari VanHoose | Room 101
The heart of Mom to Mom is to connect moms who are in the trenches of parenting with those seasoned moms of Buck Run who have already raised all of their children to adulthood. Additionally, moms of all stages can connect and spur one another on. Join us for Biblically based teaching, fellowship, and encouragement. Parenting can be challenging, no matter the age of the children. Come rest, connect and be encouraged!
