Pastor Letter: March 6, 2019

Dear Buck Run Family:

Buck Run has always made an investment in families—singles, widowed, divorced, single parent families, blended families, adoptive families, and traditional biological families. We want to do everything we can to strengthen families by pointing them to the gospel and discipling them to love Christ and to love one another. Our annual marriage retreat is one way we minister to families.

This weekend Tanya and I will be leading the marriage retreat in Pigeon Forge, TN, and encouraging married couples to understand that the glory of Christ is a greater goal in marriage than happiness or even “functionality.” When we seek the glory of Christ, when we put his will before our own happiness, amazing things happen in a home.

Tanya and I get asked to do a lot of marriage retreats but we obviously have limited time and simply cannot accept all the invitations, but we have begun responding to churches who invite us that they can join us in Pigeon Forge for the Buck Run marriage weekend, so we are happy to have several other churches join us on this retreat.

Meanwhile, back at home, remember that THIS SUNDAY Daylight Saving Time begins, so Saturday night you need to 1) set your clocks AHEAD one hour and 2) go to be early so you can get up in time for Sunday School and church. At Buck Run North—1950 Leestown Road in Frankfort—you will have one spotlight Sunday School class in Rooms 102/103 at 9:15 and Bro. Chris Parrish will preach. He and Scott Riessen will just be back from their exploratory trip to England working with our Romanian-American Mission churches there in anticipation of future mission trips for our members. I am sure his heart will be full and he will be ready to preach.

For those of you who are going to Pigeon Forge, Tanya and I can’t wait to spend some time with you. We love this weekend and what it means to us and to our church, so we are excited to share what God has laid on our hearts as well as to enjoy the fun, the fellowship, and the Krispy Kreme donuts!

Finally, it’s not too early to mention that Easter is just around the corner on April 21. You need to invite your friends NOW to come with you on Easter. Make early invitations and get an early commitment. Let’s fill our sanctuary both services this Easter Sunday! Services will be at 8:45 and 10:45.

Have a great week serving the Lord!

Your grateful pastor,

Bro. Hershael
